Skin Care in Fort Collins Begins with Sleep Habits

Do you struggle with bags under your eyes? Too much stress keeping your body wired and unable to relax? Many of us can relate to those two questions. If so, ask yourself, are you getting enough sleep? Enough doesn’t mean a few hours plus caffeine to keep you going. It doesn’t mean going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every day. It means- when you check in with your body, do you feel fully rested? When you wake up, do you feel fully rested? During the day, do you feel fully rested? If the answer is no, then like many Americans, you may be sleep deprived.

Sleep is another key component to overall health, which is a direct contributor to skin health. Take care of your body, and it will help you to feel and look better in the skin you are in. There’s no magic number. The recommended 8 hours may be too little or too much for you. Maybe you work best with a couple of hours at night and a long nap mid-day. Maybe you are completely refueled with just 5 hours. Maybe you need 9 hours a night. Maybe you are a 7 hour sleeper but need an extra couple of hours on more intense workout days. Tune in to your body and give it what it needs. If you are drastically shy on how much sleep your body needs, try gradually increasing your sleep until it becomes more routine. Maybe get to bed 15 minutes earlier for a week or two, then push it back another 15 minutes.

There’s no one right answer for everyone, but sleep is an extremely important time for your body to rest, reset and recover from all of the activities you participate in during the day.

Let’s talk more about how much sleep you should be getting in addition to cosmetic procedures or products, in order to boost your skin health!
