Botox Vs. Fillers

Botox and fillers often get confused with one another; here is everything to know about the two so that you can better understand what is right for you.

Botox

Botox is short for Botulinum toxin and is a treatment that is injected into facial muscles to temporarily improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It can even be used to treat excessive sweating. Botox is most commonly used to treat lines that result from facial expressions such as; frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, etc. The effects of Botox last for 3 to 6 months.

Fillers

Fillers are injected directly into the skin to “plump” that specific area. This treatment helps to regain a youthful appearance by smoothing ones skin. Fillers can be used to reduce laugh lines, enhance lips, even out acne scars, etc. They are also used to add structure or volume to a patients face in their desired area. Fillers can last from six months to five years depending on the type of filler used.

What is an Injectables Specialist?

An Injectables Specialist, also known as an aesthetic nurse, work to improve and enhance a patient's appearance. In the medical spa world, there are RNs that have specialized training in cosmetics procedures. They work to smooth wrinkles and fine lines, shape lips, improving imperfections and more. These nurses perform non-surgical aesthetics enhancement procedures, and are becoming more and more common in the medical spa industry. The procedures that are preformed by an injectables specialist do not involve anesthesia.

In order to become an injectables specialist you do not need to be an aesthetician first, but training is required within the area of skin care and cosmetic procedures on top of being a registered nurse. One of the primary goals of an Injectables Specialist is to improve the patient's perception of themselves and improve psychological health by modifying their body image.

Injectables specialists are available to answer any questions patients might have about procedures available.

What are HA Fillers?

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers are a way for people to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and fine lines. Hyaluronic acid is a safe and non-surgical procedure that is injected by a specialist. HA is actually a substance that is found in almost every living thing on this planet. Within the human body, HA lives in connective tissues and brings essential nutrients to skin cells.

Hyaluronic acid is extracted and reformulated in order to be an injectable filler, which is now one of the most popular fillers available. HA can also be used to provide relief to aching joints and those who suffer from arthritis pain. Other uses of HA fillers include: acnes scars, crows feet, frown lines, worry lines and many more.

When injected HA plumps up underneath wrinkles and fine lines?. As it is already present in the skin, by adding more to the skin it actually fills the space where skin has lost its elasticity. This procedure makes skin appear younger and rejuvenated. HA does this by attracting water molecules towards the skin. Since this type of filler is naturally found in the body, it eventually becomes absorbed into the body. Most that undergo treatment experience little to no downtime and depending on the solution used the results can last from a few months to several years.

Beauty Ideal vs. Your Identity; Fort Collins Botox

13487856_xxl.jpg

At Advanced Northern Colorado Aesthetics we’re aware of the culture’s beauty ideal and it’s negative impact on women and girls. (And men and boys too.)

We’re told we have to have plump lips, sculpted cheekbones and never look older than 27 years old. This often has negative effects on self esteem and self worth. We hate that.

We’re a medical spa for whom our motivation is not helping you meet some Photoshopped beauty ideal. We’re motivated to helping you be the ideal you. We don’t want you to look like someone else. We want you to look like the beautiful person that you are, we are interested in helping your inner beauty come to the surface so that everyone can see what we see when we look at you.

“I was tired of everyone thinking I was tired and exhausted,” Jane Fonda told Oprah, explaining why she had had some “work” done. “I don’t feel exhausted, I feel excited about my life and I wanted people to see that.”

People’s perceptions of you, like it or not, come from what they see. They see your face, your eyes, your skin, your clothing and they develop an idea about what you’re about. This may not be fair, but it is true.

Do you look like you’re tired because of the lines around your eyes? Do you look cranky or angry time because of those deep frown lines between your eyebrows?

When people ask why we’ve chosen to offer injectables like Botox and Juvederm it isn’t because we’re pushing a media driven beauty ideal. It’s because we know that these specialized products can make you look more like your gorgeous self.

Your face is your biggest expression. If your face isn’t really reflecting how you truly feel about yourself or those around you, isn’t that tragic?

Our injectables are safe and effective ways to look happier, more alive, more energetic, less stressed out and well rested. That is the picture of health and that’s what motivates us.
